Marco Aurelio Fontana won the penultimate stage of XCO Italian Series and the final overall classification.
In Val di Sole, Trentino-Alto Adige, today he cut the finish line in first position in front of Luca Braidot, 2nd at 32", and Nicholas Pettinà, 3rd at 55", both from GS Forestale.
Cannondale Factory Racing rider led the race from the first of the seven-lap circuit of 4.2 km drawn between the lakes of San Leonardo and the surrounding woods.
«In the first three laps I controlled the race, then I did my rhythm and everything went as I hoped. I wanted to win today to take home the leader jersey before of a little rest period» commented Prorider, under the rain, after the race.
Next goal for Marco Aurelio Fontana will be the XCO Italian Championship scheduled for July 20th in Gorizia: «Now it's time to recover energy before leaving for Thalgau, Austria, to resume the preparation at the Red Bull Diagnostic Training Center looking forward to the tricolor appointment and the second part of the World Cup».
